Unboxing my Pentax K-5

Of course, you've seen pictures taken by my Pentax K-5. I just thought that I'd post the pictures of me unboxing the camera. The following pictures were taken using my Panasonic DMC-FS3.

    1. A good question!

My decision to purchase this camera resulted from a years worth of searching. Initially, I had decided on the Nikon D5100. It had a decent sensor, and a good collection of lenses. However, it had a pentamirror viewfinder, which was small and dark, and did not fit well in my hand. So, I moved on to the Canon 60D; which I found extremely comfortable to handle. It had a plastic body (not the best when you spend that much on a camera) and was not weather sealed.

Finally, I chose the Pentax K-5 because I'm attached to the brand, it has a nice sturdy metal body, and is completely weather sealed. A pentamirror viewfinder with 100% coverage is a bonus. Further, it has an excellent choice of lenses, and I particularly like the fact that AF and SR are built into the camera body (Somehow, my sense of engineering will never allow me to purchase redundant stuff; a motor in every lens just feels so wasteful).

Also, in my opinion, the noise levels in the Pentax are far lower that Nikon or Canon. The sensor has a lot of dynamic range as well.

    2. I have Pentax k100d for couple years. I like it, but image quality in low light conditions is really bad. If I upgrade I'll take Canon probably.
I hope to see your review soon, take care!
